A little about me.

I’m a software engineer with a UX and front-end specialty. My work is about making complex systems understandable and usable, especially the tools people depend on to do their jobs. Accessibility and reducing everyday friction are part of that work from the start, not a finishing pass.

The through-line

I got my start in e-commerce and print design, which taught me something I still use every day: think about the person actually holding the page. The right typography and spacing can make information feel welcoming-or make it a chore to get through. That same attention to the reader shapes how I build interfaces now. I’m always asking where someone’s attention is going and how much work I’m asking them to do.

Since then, I’ve built employee benefits tools, SharePoint apps, and interfaces for retail and healthcare teams. At Macy’s, I worked side by side with the New York parade team to design the Parade Registration experience and the iOS app they use in the field before and during the parade itself. I partnered with technical and offshore teams to bring both to life. Now at the Federal Reserve Board, I build enterprise web platforms, shared design-system components, and AI interfaces.

The industries change, but my role stays the same: I’m a software engineer who works with the people who know the business, learns how they actually work, and turns that into interfaces they can use. My contribution is the software and user experience that helps those specialists navigate complex systems.

How I work

I connect UX decisions to the code that brings them to life: responsive front ends, semantic HTML, accessible interaction patterns, and component architecture that lasts. Documentation, training, and mentoring matter just as much, because a shared system only works when people can actually understand and use it.

AI is one tool in that kit. I build interfaces for LLM-backed services and help teams use AI-assisted development responsibly, keeping engineering judgment, accessibility, and code quality front and center.

Off hours

Away from the screen, I take photos and putter in the garden. I also send postcards to people around the world through Postcrossing. I write at unbrokenhorse.com.
